Pre Filters

UV systems are long thin tubes with what looks like a fluorescent bulb sitting in the middle. (This is the UV lamp).

The incoming water flows down the tube, around the UV light/lamp.

Any micro-organism (ie bacteria and viruses) that are hit by the light will be rendered harmless.

However any sediment / particles might create a “shadow effect” / “umbrella effect” and help the micro-organism to escape bieng exposed to the UV light.

The pre-filter removes these sediment / particles.

Running Costs

The UV lamp/bulb needs changing every 12 months. This is regardless of usage. (For example; if you go away for a few months, to ensure total safety you would still need to change the lamp/bulb 12 months after installation.
